Chamber process, also called Lead-chamber Process, method of producing sulfuric acid by oxidizing sulfur dioxide with moist air, using gaseous nitrogen oxides (nitric oxide) as catalysts, the reaction taking place primarily in a series of large, box like chambers of sheet lead.
