(a) Threshold energy: The minimum amount of energy which the reactant molecules should possess for effective collision.
(b) Energy of Activation: According to Arrhenius any chemical reaction is only possible when reacting molecules are activated with minimum energy which is called threshold energy. The kinetic energy of most of the molecules is less than this minimum energy. The excess energy which is required to activate reactant molecules is called activation energy.
