A first order reaction requires two equal sized CSTR. The conversion is
less when they are connected in series.
more when they are connected in series.
more when they are connected in parallel.

When 'n' cstr's of equal volume are connected in series and as 'n' is large the system behaves as a PFR. And also, conversion is higher in Pfr than cstr.

When CSTRs are connected in series, they tend to behave like PFR. An in a PFR the conversion is always higher than a CSTR of same volume.

Hence when the CSTRs are connected in series, their conversion is always higher than when connected parallel.

(-r1) = Fo(X2-X1)/V this formula for series mode operation for CSTR.

Where V = Volume of the reactor.

Rate of reaction is proportional to conversion.
