White phosphorus, also known as yellow phosphorus, is the most reactive allotropic form of phosphorus. It is a highly reactive, waxy, white or yellowish substance that can ignite spontaneously in air. White phosphorus is the least stable among the different forms of phosphorus and can easily undergo chemical reactions with other substances. Due to its reactivity, it is used in many industrial applications, such as in the production of fertilizers, pesticides, semiconductors, flame retardants, and as a reducing agent in metallurgy. However, it is also toxic and can cause severe burns if it comes into contact with skin.
