Lead glass, also known as lead crystal or flint glass, is usually used in optical work.

It is a type of glass that contains a high percentage of lead oxide (PbO) which gives the glass a higher refractive index and lower dispersion than normal soda-lime glass, which makes it useful for optical lenses and other optical components.

Lead glass has a higher refractive index which means that it bends light more than other types of glass, and a lower dispersion which means that it doesn't spread out different colors of light as much.
