I think they are considering a gas mixture as a single component because their is another component which is in an organic phase. Am I right?

Why water as component is not included?

And what about water, that is also a component.

The formula for degree of freedom is given as;
F = C + 2 - N.
Hence, given that;
Number of components (c) is 3.
Number of phases (N) is 2.
Hence, F = 3 + 2 - 2 = 3.
F = C + 2 - N.
Hence, given that;
Number of components (c) is 3.
Number of phases (N) is 2.
Hence, F = 3 + 2 - 2 = 3.
