Pyruvate Dehydrogenase doesn't take part in TCA cycle activity, what it does is that it produce the acetyl coA to be used to produce Citrate when the Acetyl coA condenses with Oxaloacetate.

The CAC starts with the reaction of acetyl-CoA with oxaloacetate. The action of pyruvate dehydrogenase is done before that.

Pyruvate has already been produced in the initial process, as it gets converted to acetyl coa by pyruvate dehydrogenase complex.
