Each of the three nucleotides encodes for one amino acid. So, 50 nucleotide/sec is 50/3 = 16.6 amino acid/sec. Hence, the rate of transcription =the rate of translation.

3 nucleotides code for a codon and 50 divides by 3 is 16.6 hence 17.

It has been found that the rate of transcription and translation are nearly similar.
Rate of transcription = 50nt/sec.
As the rate of transcription = rate of translation.
So, 50nt will code for 16.6 amino acids in a sec which is near to 17 amino acids/sec.
