Glycolysis occurs in the cytoplasm where one molecule of glucose is broken down to 2 molecules of pyruvate.

4 molecules of ATP are also released are also released in the payoff phase. Considering the fact that 2 molecules of ATP were invested in the preparatory phase, this makes the net ATP production to be 2.

In the reaction fructose 1, 6 phosphate is broken down in to two components which are glyceraldhyde phosphate and di hydroxyphosphate acetone, then this is isomerased to glyceadehyde 3 phosphate resulting in two molecules that produce the end products.
