12.
The interest on Rs. 750 for 2 years is the same as the true discount on Rs. 960 due 2 years hence. If the rate of interest is the same in both cases, it is:
12%
14%
15%
16 2 %
3
Answer: Option
Explanation:

S.I. on Rs. 750 = T.D. on Rs. 960.

This means P.W. of Rs. 960 due 2 years hence is Rs. 750.

T.D. = Rs. (960 - 750) = Rs. 210.

Thus, S.I. on R.s 750 for 2 years is Rs. 210.

Rate = 100 x 210 % = 14%
750 x 2

Never use short form, because it creats problem while understanding like PD, PW Etc, just mentioned clear step so that person who is weak in maths can also understand what is happening. Or even who has not studied bcom can understand.

S.I = PW * r * t /100.
T.d = amount * r * t/100 + r * t.

As given S.I = T.d .

750 * r * 2/100 = 960 * r * 2 / 100 + r * 2.

R = 14.

If the rate of intrest and true discount is same then it is not enough to calculate the rate of intrest to get the answer.

It is said that SI = TD.

So we can calculate the rate by comparing this equality given in this question.
