Read question carefully. "Whether any information provided in the statement (s) is 'redundant' and can be 'dispensed' with while answering the given question".

i.e. When we find answer using I and II; III is of no use means III is redundant i.e. we can dispense it.

Similarly, there are two more cases in which we can dispense I and II also I. We can dispense I or II or III.

How?

According to me either (I) or (III) is redundant as both involve 2 variables. (II) involves just one variable and can be used to get the second variable in (I) or (III).

However there is no such option of (I) or (III) could you please correct this in the question?

Please feel free to reply here if any of this does not make sense or if you find me to be wrong. I'd like to learn.

Correct read the question carefully, they're asking the redundant statement and not the required statements.

Oh yes. If the redundant statement is asked.

The option D is absolutely right.

Since any of the two statements are enough to solve the question the other one will be redundant providing same results. So for any combination one of them will be redundant.
