12.
4 men and 6 women can complete a work in 8 days, while 3 men and 7 women can complete it in 10 days. In how many days will 10 women complete it?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let 1 man's 1 day's work = x and 1 woman's 1 day's work = y.
Then, 4x + 6y = | 1 | and 3x + 7y = | 1 | . |
8 | 10 |
Solving the two equations, we get: x = | 11 | , y = | 1 |
400 | 400 |

6/400 = 3/200.
Take LCM of 1/8-3/200 = 440/4000 = 11/100.
Is it clear?

How can this problem be solved if the supporting statement isn't given, that is "3 men and 7 women complete work in 10 days. ".
What if the question is "4 men and 6 women can complete the work in 8 days then how many days it will take for 10 women to finish the work?".

men | women = days.
4 | 6 = 8.
3 | 7 = 10.
| 10 = ?
Solution- by cross multiplication and subtraction.
6*10 = 60 ; 4*7 = 28.
7*8 = 56 ; 3*6 = 18.
60-56 = 4 * 28-18 = 10 = 4*10 = 40 days.
4 | 6 = 8.
3 | 7 = 10.
| 10 = ?
Solution- by cross multiplication and subtraction.
6*10 = 60 ; 4*7 = 28.
7*8 = 56 ; 3*6 = 18.
60-56 = 4 * 28-18 = 10 = 4*10 = 40 days.

Abdul if the supportive statement is not given it can never be solved as we don't know man and woman work proportion.

Please can you explain how to get x = 11/400 and y = 1/400.

@Manu.
4x+6y = 1/8.............1.
3x+7y = 1/10............2.
For canceling term x we can multiply 1 by 3 and equation 2 by 4. Then we got:
12x+18y = 3/4...........3.
12x+28y = 4/10.........4.
Then subtract equation 4 by equation 3.
y = 1/100.
Put y in equation 1.
y = 1/400.
