16% stock at 64.

Means x% dividend on market value.

So 16% means 16 rupees for 100th of share.

Dividend = Annual profit of shares or x% stock of total face values.

Eg:

A person purchased 7200, 8% stock at 90. What is the face value, market value, dividend?

Sol: A person purchased 7200 worth of stock at 8 % dividend.

So 8% dividend means 8 rupees.

Face value of shares=total value of shares.

Fv = 7200.

Total market value = 90% of total face value.

90/100*7200 = 6480.

Dividend on all shares 8% on 7200.

8/100*7200 = 576.

@pawan Suppose u do a work in 2 days...
then what amount u work in 1 day??????
obviously half work.....isnt it?????

in this way.......
2 days.....1 work
1 day.......X work...
i.e 2*X = 1*1
i.e X =(1*1)/2
i.e X = 1/2 work.........this is the answer...

Income 1500 means dividend on total face value of stocks.

Dividend always earned on total face value of shares as per market value.

d = g/mv*fv.

16of2/3% means we gain(g) 50/3 at 100.

1500 = 50/3/64*fv.
fv = 1500*3/50*64.
fv = 5760.

Total fv is investment to price shares.

Here if you invest 64 Rs then you'll get 16 2/3%.

16 2/3% = 50/3 = 16.6Rs.
Which means you'll earn 16.6Rs.

In the question, one earns 1500 Rs then how much we invested?

64 ---- 16.6 or 50/3.
? ----- 1500.

= (1500*64)/(50/3).
= 1500*64*3/50.
= 5760.

See,

50/3 he is earning when he is investing Rs. 64.

So for earning of Rs.1 he has to invest Rs. 64/(50/3).

So for earning of Rs.1500 he has to invest Rs. 64/(50/3)*1500.
=64*(3/50)*1500
=64*3*1500/50
=Rs. 5760.

@All.

Solve it by logic;

For earning rs.50/3 he has invested Rs.64.
To earn Rs.1500 how much thus he had to invest,
50/3. 64.
1500. x.

50/3x = 64 * 1500.
Therefore:
x = 64 * 1500 * 3/50.
Ans : 5760.

Hope this might help.

I believe here ideally the Face Value should have been mentioned, the face value assumed is 100.

Total Investment= ((Total Income)/(Face Value * Dividend ) ) * Market Value

Please take a note Market Value is Investment per share.

@Dhivya.

How did you compare 50/3x = 64*1500.
you mentioned in the above equation that;
50/3*64.

1500*x
therefore,50/3*64 =1500*x,
this might be possible.
Then how did you declared that comparison? Please explain to me.

It tells that earn rs16.66 by investing Rs 64.

By earn rs100 we need to invest in 8 shares(16.66 * 8 = 100) so for earn 1500 need to purchase 8*15 = 120shares.
1share = 64rs.
So total investment =64 * 120 = 5760.

After I made research on this question, there is a mistake I found.

i.e., the question is stated with 16% and the answer has solved with 50/3%. Now up to you which one you will think is right.
