A man has some hens and cows. If the number of heads be 48 and the number of feet equals 140, then the number of hens will be:
22
23
24
26
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Let the number of hens be x and the number of cows be y.

Then, x + y = 48 .... (i)

  and 2x + 4y = 140      x + 2y = 70 .... (ii)

Solving (i) and (ii) we get: x = 26, y = 22.

The required answer = 26.

If ask hen foot so take a cow foot 48* 4 = 192 then;
192 - 140 = 52,
52/2 = 26.

Can anyone please tell me how this 140 came?

Hens 48*2=96.
Cows 48*4=192.

140/2 = 70,
70-48 = 22 (number of cows).
48-22 = 26 (number of hens).

How to solve x+y = 48?

x+y = 70, to get x = 26 and y=22. Please tell.

48*4 = 192 legs.
192-140 = 52legs.
52/2 = 26 hens.
48 - 26 = 22 cows.

48*4=192, 192-140=52÷2=26.

Cow=26, Hens=22.
