Eight people are planning to share equally the cost of a rental car. If one person withdraws from the arrangement and the others share equally the entire cost of the car, then the share of each of the remaining persons increased by:

By quuestion, Eight people will equally share the rental of the car But one leaves the deal so
Case beforehand
100/8= 12.5rs to be paid by each
One leaves the deal
100/7 = 14.285rs
Increase in price to be paid equally by all 7
14.285-12.5 = 1.785
Now how many times of the original price is contained in the increment value
1.785/12.5 = 1/7.

It is asking "the share of each of the remaining persons increased by" which is the difference between new and old ration which is 1/56 this should be the answer.

If car rate is x and initial contribution is why then,
Increased contribution of each person is x/56 or y/7.

Answer is 1/7 when it's is said that "increased to" as 1/56 + 1/8 =1/7.
But according to the question, "increased by" so answer will be 1/8 as (1/7-1/56).
Correct me, if I am wrong.

Additional cost = 9.243-8 =1.143.
Let's check the answer from the given option by converting it in %.
(1÷7)*100=14.3%.
And, as we get;
(1.143÷8)*100 = 14.3%.
Hence proved that 1/7 is correct.

It is given that share would be divided among remaining person so why 1/8 is divided, it should be 1/7 can anyone clarify?

Simple one:
One's share is 1/8
Seven person's share is 7/8
Ans = (1/8)*(8/7)(simple one person's share divide by seven persons share)
= 1/7
