By using the formula:
I = P R T/100.
I = 15, 500-12, 500 = 3000.
3000 = 12, 500*R*4/100.
3000*100 = 12, 500*4 R.
300000 = 50000 R.
R = 300000/50000.
R = 6%.
I = P R T/100.
I = 15, 500-12, 500 = 3000.
3000 = 12, 500*R*4/100.
3000*100 = 12, 500*4 R.
300000 = 50000 R.
R = 300000/50000.
R = 6%.

I don't understand. Why we didn't divide 3,000 by 4 (as it is given that the principal increased in 4 years) to get the actual S.I, that is for a single year?

We have a 12500 amount & after 4 year, we get 15500 amount so total.
Profit amount or S.I in 4 Year is 3000.
Now use the Formula:.
S.I = (P*R*T) /100.
Profit amount or S.I in 4 Year is 3000.
Now use the Formula:.
S.I = (P*R*T) /100.

The calculation used to calculate rate gives out 30 as the answer.
[(3000 x 100)/(12500 x 4)] = 30. NOT 6.
Can anyone throw a light on this?

Here, 6 is the correct answer.
15500-12500=3000.
Formula:
SI=PNR/100.
3000=12500*4*R/100.
3000*100/12500*4=R.
300000/50000=R.
R=6%.
15500-12500=3000.
Formula:
SI=PNR/100.
3000=12500*4*R/100.
3000*100/12500*4=R.
300000/50000=R.
R=6%.

Why we are taking as 12, 500 instead of 15,000. We are taking the number of the year (t) is 4. So we want tot take 15,500 am I right?

Here.
P = 12500.
T = 4 years.
Amount = S.I+P.
S.I = Amount-P.
S.I = 15500-12500 = 3000.
R = 100*S.I/P*T = 100*3000/12500*4 = 6%.
P = 12500.
T = 4 years.
Amount = S.I+P.
S.I = Amount-P.
S.I = 15500-12500 = 3000.
R = 100*S.I/P*T = 100*3000/12500*4 = 6%.
