14.
A person borrows Rs. 5000 for 2 years at 4% p.a. simple interest. He immediately lends it to another person at 6% p.a for 2 years. Find his gain in the transaction per year.
Rs. 112.50
Rs. 125
Rs. 225
Rs. 167.50
Answer: Option
Explanation:

Gain in 2 years
= Rs. 5000 x 25 x 2 - 5000 x 4 x 2
4 100 100
= Rs. (625 - 400)
= Rs. 225.

Gain in 1 year = Rs. 225 = Rs. 112.50

The difference in rate percentage will be the profit so, (6 1/4% - 4%)per year = 2.25%per year
P=5,000 considered as total percentage i,e 100.
Therefore, by cross multiplication;

5,000 = 100%
? = 2.25 %
We get;

5,000 x 2.25/100.
= 112.50 answers solved.

Question asked only for 1 year so it is 112.50.

In case if it is for two years it will be (112.50+112.50),
= 225.

Another method:

Gain percentage = 6 1/4% - 4%.
Gain percentage = 25/4% - 4%.
Gain percentage = 9/4%.

We know that principle amount, 5000rs = 100%.
Then,.
x rs = 9/4%.
x = (50 * 9)/4,
x = 450/4,
x = 112.5rs.

In this question, it is mention that person lends the amount to another person at (6 1/4) 25/4 pa not 25/4pc. then how come we are considering this 25/4 as a percentage?

The answer should be RS. 310.5 according to question. Can anyone clear my this doubt?

@All.

One can avoid the calculations by simply taking the amount of increase in the rate of interest.

i.e
Gain rate --> 25/4 = 6.25%.
Original Rate --> 4%.
increase = 2.25%.
Therefore, Gain = (5000x2.25)/100 = 112.5 Rs.

Principal 5000 and 4 p.a.

1 year 200 intrest he has to pay,
The same amount 6(1/4)%,
6(1/4)is the mixed fraction,
When you change this;

25/4.

25/4% / 100% x 5000.
U get 312.50.
200-312.50 = 112.50.
So he gains 112.50;

Simplest method to solve
Principle is same
Term i.e period is same
ONLY lending & borrrowing rate differs
So GAIN=Diff between them(25/4-4)% = 9/4%

Therefore gain in rupees = 5000*9/4% = 112.5

How it is possible?

Because here the rate of interest is different for each 2 years. So he gains transaction each year is also different. So the person who is intelligent please clear my concept.

Its very simple 25/4 is the rate of interests at which he lends it to other person

just find s.i. of 5000,4%,2
and 5000,25/4%,2

and subtract the both pls refer 8th std maths book.

Actually you are taking 2 years know that is in which the loan lends to another person but we want actual gain if 2 years is 225 means for 1 year 225/2=112. 5 ok.
