I think here 75 is kmph not mph.

So, if I change the speed to 90mph, then according to the way this is solved, the time would increase. Now that does not sound right to me. Can anyone explain this, please ?

Total distance covered.
= 7/2 + 1/4.
=15/4 miles.
Can anyone explain me, how to convert it?

@All.
Assume that there's a platform of length 7/2 miles and train of length 1/4 miles.
So now we just have to calculate the time taken by train to pass the platform.
Hence total distance = 15/4 miles.
No need to add 1/4 twice.
Hope you will understand.

Because 75mph that means 75 miles per hour, not metres.

15/4.
(7/2 +1/4) = let take hcm of this i.e. 4.
Then, (7*2/4 +1/4),
(14+1/4)=15/4.

(14+1/4)=15/4.
