The difference between a two-digit number and the number obtained by interchanging the positions of its digits is 36. What is the difference between the two digits of that number?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the ten's digit be x and unit's digit be y.
Then, (10x + y) - (10y + x) = 36
9(x - y) = 36
x - y = 4.

Guys I agree to this explanation but I found a no which matches the criteria of this question. no is 73. If we reverse is we will get 37.
And difference between 73 and 37 is 36. And difference between digits is 3. Am I wrong?

We cannot take : (10x+y)-(10y+x)=36 because if x or y = 0 then may it come under one digit number.
So,
let take : ((10x+10)+y)- ((10y+10)+x)=36 in this way if we put x or y 0. It give result two digit number.

Actually it indicates the place, the order of place is hundred tens and unit place. So when we are talking about interchanging digit we are writing in place as we are interchanging there place. Got it.?

According to me.
The two-digit number I'll take is 10.
And subtract with 36.
So I'll get 26.
Then I have to find the difference between the two-digit number so I'll subtract 2-6 =4 so the answer is 4.

@Abhijit.
The number your are interchanging is 73 so you have you have to see the difference between 7 and 3 which is equal to 4. And you can check this with the number 84 & 95.

Let the unit place be x.
Ten =10x.
On interchanging position in difference.
10x-x=39,
9x=36,
x=36/9,
x = 4 answer.
Note : If we don't interchange the value of x will be -4.

Yes we have a separate formula for this type of problems.
Difference between two digits of two digit number is = (Difference in original and interchanged number)/ 9.
Difference between two digits of two digit number is = (Difference in original and interchanged number)/ 9.

Say 1 no is 84.
Then interchanging it we will get 48.
Difference between these two number is 36.
So, the difference between the two digit will be 4.
Then interchanging it we will get 48.
Difference between these two number is 36.
So, the difference between the two digit will be 4.

Actually we are assuming here as x and y as we need to find d value given you can take any variables to caluculate thats not restricted.
