Explanation:

Let the son's present age be x years. Then, (38 - x) = x

2x = 38.

x = 19.

Son's age 5 years back (19 - 5) = 14 years.

So, here Father age at the time of his son's age is 38 - x.
The present age of his son is x.
So, lets 38 - x = x.
38 = 2x.
So now we have to divide this, so the answer will be 19.
Now they asked that 5 years back, of sons age was 19 - 5.
So, the answer is 14.
