Answer: Option
Explanation:
Here, S = {1, 2, 3, 4, ...., 19, 20}.
Let E = event of getting a multiple of 3 or 5 = {3, 6 , 9, 12, 15, 18, 5, 10, 20}.

As both the events A and B are independent and non-mutually exclusive we can use the following formula:.
P (A or B) = P (A) + P (B) - P (A and B).
= 6/20 + 4/20 - (6/20 * 4/20) [probability intersection rule for dependent events].
= 10/20 - 3/50.
= 50 - 6/100.
= 44/100 = 11/25. But this answer is not in the option.

A = multiple of 3 (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18).
Possible outcome = 6.
B = multiple of 5 (5, 10, 15, 20).
Possible outcome = 4.
Therefore, P (A or B) = P (A) + P (B).
6/20 + 4/20 = 10/20 = 1/2.
Possible outcome = 6.
B = multiple of 5 (5, 10, 15, 20).
Possible outcome = 4.
Therefore, P (A or B) = P (A) + P (B).
6/20 + 4/20 = 10/20 = 1/2.
