Why we didnt take ( 1/12 - (1/5+1/6) ). Here 12 is greater right?

Just take it by formula.
5 * 6 * 12/6 * 12+ 5 * 12-5 * 6 = 60/17.
5 * 6 * 12/6 * 12+ 5 * 12-5 * 6 = 60/17.
