Invalid is 20%.
So, valid is (100 - 20) is 80%.
Total votes are 7500.
But we need to count only the valid ones.
So its 80% of 7500.
Which is 6000.
Now already 55% of 6000 is acquired by the 1st candidate.
So 100 - 55 which is 45% is for the other candidate.
Therefore, 45% of 6000.
45/100 * 6000 = 2700.
So, valid is (100 - 20) is 80%.

100% votes =7500,
then loser percentage is 36% so we can calculate ( 36 * 7500)/100.
then loser percentage is 36% so we can calculate ( 36 * 7500)/100.

There are 7500 total votes. Of these 20% were invalid. This means that 80% were valid.
Multiplying 7500 by 80% gives us 6000 valid votes.
Since 55% of the 6000 valid votes were won by one candidate, that candidate got 6000 x 55%, or 3300 votes.
But the question is how many did the other candidate get. You can get this by multiplying the 6000 by 100"55 or 45% of the vote, or simply subtracting 3300 from 6000 which is 2700 votes.

@Shivani.
80% - (55% of 80).
=> (80 - {(55*80)/100} )%,
=> (80 - 44)%,
valid votes = 36%.
80% - (55% of 80).
=> (80 - {(55*80)/100} )%,
=> (80 - 44)%,
valid votes = 36%.

{Total % of votes} 100% - 55% {valid votes} = 45%.
{rest off} 45% - (20% of 45)% {invalid votes}.
=> 45% - {(20 * 45)/100}%,
=> (45 - 9)%,
=> 36% {valid vote % of other candidate}.
# The total no. of votes was (100%) = 7500 {given}.
No. of valid votes of other candidate:- 7500 * 36%,
=> (7500 * 36)/100,
=> 2700.
The number of valid votes of other candidates = 2700 votes.
{rest off} 45% - (20% of 45)% {invalid votes}.

# The total no. of votes was (100%) = 7500 {given}.
No. of valid votes of other candidate:- 7500 * 36%,

The number of valid votes of other candidates = 2700 votes.

How 45% valid vote left?
In question it is said that 20% of the total vote is invalid then 80% valid votes where remaining and if one got 55% valid vote then other on will have (80-55) % = 25% valid vote.

As per the question:
55% out of valid vote which is 80% (since 20% vote is invalid)
Therefore, 80% - 55% = 25% (valid vote left)
So, 25/100 * 6000 = 1500.
55% out of valid vote which is 80% (since 20% vote is invalid)
Therefore, 80% - 55% = 25% (valid vote left)
So, 25/100 * 6000 = 1500.
