9.
A student multiplied a number by | 3 | instead of | 5 | . |
5 | 3 |
What is the percentage error in the calculation?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Let the number be x.
Then, error = | 5 | x - | 3 | x = | 16 | x. |
3 | 5 | 15 |
Error% = | ![]() |
16x | x | 3 | x 100 | ![]() |

Suppose the no. is 300
Then error no. is 300*3/5 =180
and the actual answer is 300*5/3= 500
THE difference value is 320
Then ans is 320*100/500 = 64%
Then error no. is 300*3/5 =180
and the actual answer is 300*5/3= 500
THE difference value is 320
Then ans is 320*100/500 = 64%

Its so simple.
true value =5/3x;
false value=3/5x;
=(3/5)(3/5)(5/3)x
=(9/25)(5/3)x
=(0.36)(5/3)x
error=1-0.36
=0.64
error%=64%
true value =5/3x;
false value=3/5x;
=(3/5)(3/5)(5/3)x
=(9/25)(5/3)x
=(0.36)(5/3)x
error=1-0.36
=0.64
error%=64%

Well you took 9 and 25 ok
the difference between 25 and 9 becomes error i.e.. 16
error percentage is error/true value * 100
now 16/25*100 = 64%
the difference between 25 and 9 becomes error i.e.. 16
error percentage is error/true value * 100
now 16/25*100 = 64%

@All
Firstly,
Take a base number and multiply it;
5x3 = 15.
Then,
15 x 3/5 =9,
15 x 5/3 =25,
Difference 25-9 = 16.
16/25 x 100 = 64%.
Thanks.

Let the no is 15, then.
3/5*15 = 9.
5/3*15 = 25.
The difference of both is 16.
Then the error percentage is:
Error% = (25-9)/25*100 = 64%.
3/5*15 = 9.
5/3*15 = 25.
The difference of both is 16.
Then the error percentage is:
Error% = (25-9)/25*100 = 64%.

Let the number be 300. Then 300* (3/5) = 180. And 300* (5/3) =500.
500-180 = 320 Now for checking percentage error,
320/500 * 100 = 64%.
500-180 = 320 Now for checking percentage error,
320/500 * 100 = 64%.

We can take 100 as a number then multiply 3/5 and 5/3 as well. U will get 60 and 166.5, then
166.5-60 = 106.5.
(106.5/166.5) * 100 = 64%.
166.5-60 = 106.5.
(106.5/166.5) * 100 = 64%.

The difference between the two nos become 16/15.
Then the percentage of 16/15 in the true value 5/3 is 64%.
16/15 * 100 = 64%. @Sandhavi.
Then the percentage of 16/15 in the true value 5/3 is 64%.
16/15 * 100 = 64%. @Sandhavi.

Just take lcm of 5 and 3 which will be 15.
Now,
3/5 * 15 = 9 and 5/3 * 15 = 25.
Now subtract 25 by 9 25 - 9 = 16.
Now 16/25 * 100 = 64%.
Now,
3/5 * 15 = 9 and 5/3 * 15 = 25.
Now subtract 25 by 9 25 - 9 = 16.
Now 16/25 * 100 = 64%.
