Why we are summing 3, 2?

How we taking a profit (3/5) ?

Let take a look on the below


if total profit is 100
remaining profit is 95 (because the 5% profit goes to charity)
so now the profit need distribute to A and B
Bow we can calculate the A's profit
A's Profit = (3/5)*95 = 57
As per problem A got Rs 855
So 57% = 855
So we need full profit = (855/57)*100 = 1500

Please. Give me details of calculations step by step.

We will calculate for 100, and by using that we will calculate for the actual value.

A's Share is 855 i.e. From that ratio 3:2.
3 is 855.

We need total so add the ratio value 3+2=5.
Using proportional method,

5 x

3x=5*855 => x=1425.

This 1425 is 95% we need 100% so use same method,

95 1425
100 x

95x=100*1425 =>x=1500.

0.05 * 855 = 42.75.

How we taking let pofit is Rs 100?

Why can't we do it like 3/2 x 5/100X = 855?

Since 5% of total profit goes to charity, that means "A" receives only 95% and same goes to B he will also receive 95% .

95% of X = 855, means "X" is the 100 percent Amount.
95/1OO * X = 855;
95x = 85500 or x = 900, which concludes 900 is the 100 percent amount , and 45 rupees are the 5% given by A towards charity .

Now as we all know if we have to calculate the total profit we use . Total share of investor/his ratio * total ratio or 900/3 * 5, it's 900 divided by 3 then multiplied by 5 which is equal to 1500, in the same case if you have to find "B" share then do 900/3 * 2 or when we calculate individual share we use total share of A/ratio of A multiplied by Ratio of B.
