Suppose total profit = X.
The ratio of investment of A and B = 3:2.
A's share = Rs. 855.
In ratio A has 3 units,

So, 855/3 gives the value of one unit.

Therefore, 855/3 = Rs. 285.

The value of one unit = Rs. 285.
Total units we have = 5.

So, the profit they both get after giving 5 percent money to charity = 285 * 5 = Rs. 1425.

Now, according to question,
X - 5% of X = 1425.
X - 5X/100 = 1425.
100X - 5X.
95X = 142500.
X = 142500 = Rs. 1500.

Since 5% of total profit goes to charity, that means "A" receives only 95% and same goes to B he will also receive 95% .

95% of X = 855, means "X" is the 100 percent Amount.
95/1OO * X = 855;
95x = 85500 or x = 900, which concludes 900 is the 100 percent amount , and 45 rupees are the 5% given by A towards charity .

Now as we all know if we have to calculate the total profit we use . Total share of investor/his ratio * total ratio or 900/3 * 5, it's 900 divided by 3 then multiplied by 5 which is equal to 1500, in the same case if you have to find "B" share then do 900/3 * 2 or when we calculate individual share we use total share of A/ratio of A multiplied by Ratio of B.

Is there any trick to solve such kind of question without doing all this calculation?

Profit sharing ratio A:B 3:2.

A share of profit 855.

Let's take 100% total profit.

Hence total profit = 855*5/3 = 1425 (95%).

Total profit with 5% given to charity = 1425*100/95 = 1500 (100%).

After 5% of charity, A's share 855.

i.e 95% --> 855.

100% --> (100*855)/95 = 900.

900 rs --> 3 parts.

(600) rs --> 2 parts.

Finally A's share + B's share = 900+600 = 1500.

3 = 855.
2 = ?

=> 855*2 = 1500.

B's share is 1500.

And in the question A's share = 855.

Equating A's share, we get.

= 3/5(x-5) = 855.

After solving we get x = 1500.

3/5X = 855.
X = 1425.

If 95% = 1425.
100% = 1500, so simple.
