According to this logic:
Go on multiplying the number by 2 and adding 1 to it to get the next number
3*2+1=7
7*2+1=15
15*2+1=31
31*2+1=63
Go on multiplying the number by 2 and adding 1 to it to get the next number
3*2+1=7
7*2+1=15
15*2+1=31
31*2+1=63

Why can't it be like this:
3*1+4 = 7
7*1+8 = 15
15*1+12 = 27
27*1+16 = 43
So 63 can also be the wrong answer.
3*1+4 = 7
7*1+8 = 15
15*1+12 = 27
27*1+16 = 43
So 63 can also be the wrong answer.

2^2 - 1 = 3,
2^3 - 1 = 7,
2^4 - 1 = 15,
2^5 - 1 = 31(not 27),
2^6 - 1 = 63.
And so on...
2^3 - 1 = 7,
2^4 - 1 = 15,
2^5 - 1 = 31(not 27),
2^6 - 1 = 63.
And so on...

3*2 = 6 + 1 = 7
7*2 = 14 + 1 = 15
15*2 = 30 + 1 = 31
31*2 = 62 + 1 = 63.
7*2 = 14 + 1 = 15
15*2 = 30 + 1 = 31
31*2 = 62 + 1 = 63.

All numbers are divisible by 3 except 7. So, 7 can be one answer.

@Santanu
No. 127 cannot be divided by 3 as you said.
Therefore, 27 is the only correct answer I hope.
