I know how to do it.
8*3=24,
24/2=12,
12*3=36,
36/2=18,
18*3=54,
so 54/2=27.
8*3=24,
24/2=12,
12*3=36,
36/2=18,
18*3=54,
so 54/2=27.

It is difficult to find yar, to add alternate numbers and guess the other number and to add those number. It is very difficult. Nandha and explanation of Sundar was right. Good Explanation Sundar.

I have a suggestion. We can also add the 3rd and 5th numbers to get the previous numbers example.
8,24,12,36,18,54 - 8,24,12 = 12+12 = 24 to get 24 in the 1st series
then 36,18,54 = 18+18 to get 36 then 3rd series 27+27 = 54.
8,24,12,36,18,54 - 8,24,12 = 12+12 = 24 to get 24 in the 1st series
then 36,18,54 = 18+18 to get 36 then 3rd series 27+27 = 54.

Hi Tarun
You are wrong. Then what about other numbers previous to 36 (8, 24, 12) ?
Let me explain in detail.
...
16 / 2 = 08
08 x 3 = 24
24 / 2 = 12
12 x 3 = 36
36 / 2 = 18
18 x 3 = 54
54 / 2 = 27 [The required answer]
27 x 3 = 81
...
I hope this will help you. Have a nice day!

I got 72.
24+12 = 36
36+18 = 54
and
54+18 = 72
Is this correct?
24+12 = 36
36+18 = 54
and
54+18 = 72
Is this correct?
