On dividing a number by 56, we get 29 as remainder. On dividing the same number by 8, what will be the remainder ?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
Formula: (Divisor*Quotient) + Remainder = Dividend.
Soln:
(56*Q)+29 = D -------(1)
D%8 = R -------------(2)
From equation(2),
((56*Q)+29)%8 = R.
=> Assume Q = 1.
=> (56+29)%8 = R.
=> 85%8 = R
=> 5 = R.

Add 29 to 56 then it becoms 85. Then divide it with 8.
We will get the remainder as 5.
We will get the remainder as 5.

Simply if any number divided by 56 it means divide by 8 also so only check remainder after divide 29/8 and we will get 5.

That number must x* 56 + 29,
Let x=0; num=29 then 8)29(3
24
__
5
If we can putx>0 get reminder is above the given answers
Let x=0; num=29 then 8)29(3
24
__
5

Divisor=56 and remainder=29.
So dividend =divisor + remainder i.e. 85.
85/8=leaver remainder 5.
Short cut:.
(Dividend=divisor+ remainder).

85/8=leaver remainder 5.

Smallest no. with remainder 29 and divisible by 56 is:
56*1+29=85
85/8,remainder is 5.
56*1+29=85
85/8,remainder is 5.

When any two numbers are divided, they are related as Divisor*Quotient + Remainder = Dividend
Now we know the divisor, and the remainder
Let's assume quotient as 1
then in our case 56*1 + 29 = 85 is the number which gives remainder as 29 when divided by 6
Dividend this same number by 8 gives us the remainder as 5.
Alternative,
Let the dividend be 56*Q + 29, where Q is the quotient
Now dividing this same number by 8, there are two things
1. Since 56 is divisible by 8 therefore 56*Q will give us 0 remainder
2. Dividing 29 by 8 will give us remainder 5
In short the only way to to attempt the question is divided the number by previous divisor and the remainder individually and add the result.

When we divide no by 56 R = 29
i.e if we add (56 - 29 = 27) 27 to no. then no is divisible by 56
Same as 29/8 = 3 (29 - 24 = 5)
Ans is 5.

We know that 56 is completely divided by 8, means what ever number divided by 56, 8 can also divide it without remaining any remainder.
We know the remainder which we got during dividing with 56 is 29 ..
Lets see how much more we can solve it by dividing 8.
8)29(3
24
-----
5
We get remainder as 5 .
Thank you.
