As we all know that the smallest three-digit number is 100 and it's square root is 10 but it is not a prime number as given in the question.
101 is the smallest one and is greater than 100 also, so we need to consider the primary numbers till 11 (11>10) and this can be applicable in all cases.

As 101 is not divisible by any number from 2 to 11 so for it to be a composite number it must be a product of 2 or more numbers greater than 11 which is not possible as 101<11^2< product of 2 or more numbers greater than 11.

Number 101 is not a prime number because it can be divisible by 1, 3, or itself and the prime number definition says that any number which can be divisible be 1 or itself a prime number. So 101 is not a prime number.
