I don't understand that how we get p=1. Because if we consider p=1 then it becomes 9+1+1=11 not 12. Then how can we take the value of p=1.

Clearly 4864 is divided by 4.
Then 9p2 is also divided by 4 and 3.
(Solution = 9+p+1=12 (where p =1)).
So answer is 1.
Then 9p2 is also divided by 4 and 3.
(Solution = 9+p+1=12 (where p =1)).
So answer is 1.

Even p=4 is satisfying the condition. Because 9+4+2 is a multiple of 3. So if the option 1 is not given but 4 is in the option we should be selecting it. Not only 4, other numbers which satisfy the condition (sum of digits a multiple of 3).

Why we do not divide 4864 by 3 and 9p2 by 4?

Co prime numbers of 12 are 4 and 3. So we need to divide the numbers by 4 and 3.

Why don't we consider 6, 2 as the factors for 12?

Because 3 and 4 is the factors of 12 and if the number is divisible by 4 then it should be divisible by 3 as well to get divisible by 12 completely.

Please tell me why 9p2 is divisible by 3.

since 12=4*3
so the whole no must be divisible by both 4 and 3.
so the whole no must be divisible by both 4 and 3.
