Why it is multiplying by 1/10?

2994 ÷ 14.5 = 172.

I can't understand how come in 172? Please tell me.

Hai, here is simple method.

100 should be multiplied with 29.94 to become - 2994.

10 should be multiplied with 1.45 to become - 14.5.

Hence (29.94/1.45)*(100/10) = 2994/14.5.

We know that 2994/14.5 = 172.

So (29.94/1.45)*(100/10) = 172.

When we transfer (100/10) to right side it becomes (10/100).

So (29.94/1.12) = 172 (10/100).

i.e, (29.94/1.12) = 172 (1/10).

i.e, (29.94/1.12) = 172/10.

i.e, (29.94/1.12) = 17.2.

you can divide directly but we have no use out of it, you can find the mistakes in the following steps .

Look you have made 1 mistake in the 2 step,ie.,
2994/14.5 is wrong( you have understood the question wrongly)
2994/1.45 is given in the question.(we want 2994/14.5 so i have multiplied & divided with 10 in the next next step. i wil work for you
29.94/1.45*10/10=299.4/14.5,
299.4/14.5*10/10=(2994/14.5)*1/10(multiplied Nr with 10)
2994/14.5=172.,172*1/10=17.2 hope you can understand.:-

Here, Only decimals change 14.5 to 1.45.
& 172.0 to 17.2.
Then
14.5 = 172.0.
And similarly 1.45 = 17.2.

How to do solve it 2994 ÷ 14.5 = 172.
29.94 ÷ 1.45 = ?.

29.94 means 2994 * 10^-2,
And 1.45 means 145 * 10^-2,
Bt we know 2994/14.5 =172.
Converting to that form; 2994 * 10^-2/14.5 * 10^-1.

Therefore the 10^-1 frm the denominator is cancelled with the one 10^-1 frm 10^-2
So one 10^-1 left in the numerator.

Ie; 2994 * 10^-1/14.5 = 172 * 10^-1 = 17.2.

Multiplying with 1/10 means dividing 2994 by 10 which gives 299.4 without altering the rules.
