you can divide directly but we have no use out of it, you can find the mistakes in the following steps .

Look you have made 1 mistake in the 2 step,ie.,
2994/14.5 is wrong( you have understood the question wrongly)
2994/1.45 is given in the question.(we want 2994/14.5 so i have multiplied & divided with 10 in the next next step. i wil work for you
29.94/1.45*10/10=299.4/14.5,
299.4/14.5*10/10=(2994/14.5)*1/10(multiplied Nr with 10)
2994/14.5=172.,172*1/10=17.2 hope you can understand.:-

Hai, here is simple method.

100 should be multiplied with 29.94 to become - 2994.

10 should be multiplied with 1.45 to become - 14.5.

Hence (29.94/1.45)*(100/10) = 2994/14.5.

We know that 2994/14.5 = 172.

So (29.94/1.45)*(100/10) = 172.

When we transfer (100/10) to right side it becomes (10/100).

So (29.94/1.12) = 172 (10/100).

i.e, (29.94/1.12) = 172 (1/10).

i.e, (29.94/1.12) = 172/10.

i.e, (29.94/1.12) = 17.2.

I will explain you .first 29.94/1.45 is multiplied and divide with 10 then you will get 299.4/14.5 .then again multiply and divide 299.4/14.5 with 10 then very important you are going to multiply only the numerator with 10 because then only you wil get (2994/14.5*1/10).then substitute d value of 2994/14.5=172.

The next step is 172/10 then the ans is 17.2, I hope that you can understand

If 2994/14.5 = 172 then 29.94/1.45 = ?

We can write 29.94/1.45 as 2994/145 (by mul with 10 both numerator and denominator).

Then, 2994/145 can be written as 2994/(14.5 x 10) or (2994/14.5)x(1/10)------(A)

So replace 2994/14.5 with 172 in (A)

29.94 means 2994 * 10^-2,
And 1.45 means 145 * 10^-2,
Bt we know 2994/14.5 =172.
Converting to that form; 2994 * 10^-2/14.5 * 10^-1.

Therefore the 10^-1 frm the denominator is cancelled with the one 10^-1 frm 10^-2
So one 10^-1 left in the numerator.

Ie; 2994 * 10^-1/14.5 = 172 * 10^-1 = 17.2.

2994 ÷ 14.5=206.48 and 29.94 ÷ 1.45 = 20.6 above the four options are not correct.

If the answer is 2994 ÷ 14.5 = 172 without any calculation based on the decimal value the answer is 17.2 is correct otherwise, the proper calculation the answer is not correct.

Deepa why you divide and multiply with 10 one by one? why don't you directly divide 29.94 with 100 to make it 2994.

Look if it is like this as under then why it is wrong?

2994/14.5*1/100
as 2994/14.5=172 so
= 172*1/100 =1.72

What you are telling is rite acctualy. But the problem is, if 2994/14. 5=172, according 2 maths subject if means given condition. Using the given conditions only we have to find the solutions.

Can any one tell the rules of shifting of decimals during division and multiplication?

i.e. in case of division total decimals of both terms are added or subtracted?

299.4/14.5=172 -------> (1)
29.94/1.45=x -------> (2)

Multiply (2) by 10
299.4/14.5=10x -------> (3).

Now divide(1)/(3)
We can get x = 17.2 answer.
