How many digits will be there to the right of the decimal point in the product of 95.75 and .02554 ?
5
6
7
None of these
Answer: Option

After the decimal, there are 7 digits, but the last one is zero. So, the significant number is 6.

Yes, agree @Samreen.

The calculator is showing 2.445455.

@Maurice.

With calculator, we get 2.445455.

2 the last digit is zero and hence it is not considered so according to question,

The digits after the decimal point are (2 + 5 = 7) => 7 and hence as the last digit is zero =>7 - 1= 6.

@Pranav @Anurag @Maurice @Suvendu.

Any number of zeroes at the end of a decimal number does not count. Like 2.04, 2.004 but there is no difference between 2.50 and 2.5. I hope you got it now.

95.74*0.02554=2.4451996.

Thus answer should be 7. Please calculate again.

95.74*0.02554 = 2.4454550 will be written as 2.445455.

So answer is 6 not 7.

Shouldn't it be 5?

Maurice said:   1 decade ago
Wrong ! 5 is correct answer. Though 5*4 gives one zero, 75*4 giver 2 zeros.

Hence ans = 7-2 = 5. Check with calculator.

Count the places of the number after the decimal point of the given 1st number and as the same for the given 2nd number. 1st number has 2 places after decimal points and 2nd number has 5 places. Therefore 2+5=7.
