According to me, option C is correct.

D cannot be the answer since all travellers do not travel just by bus or train, even the people who are travelling by plane or taxi or any vehicles are called travellers.

And there is no intersection of all the three circles required since a traveller can travel by bus or train one at a time, one can not travel by bus and train at the same time, if he is to travel by train then he has to get down from the bus or vice versa.

C satisfies these 2 qualities since there is no intersection of all the three and that all travellers are shown to travel by just train and bus.

Option D is correct as train and bus here depicted as mode of transport and travellers uses either train or bus to travel hence option D is correct.

If the question said 20 students play cricket, 15 plays football but 5 of them also plays cricket, 17 plays hockey out of 5 play football then the option C will be the answer.

The answer is C as trains and buses are not used only for travelling. It is also used for carrying goods.

As no traveller can be a bus or train. No bus could be train or traveller. No train could be a bus or traveller. So the answer should be an option (B).

I think option D will also correct because travellers can travel by train or bus but a train can't be bus and bus can't train so both circles can't touch to each other hence option D is correct.
