Data is inadequate because nowhere it's given that the day is sunny. Although the answer could be south but data inadequate is more preferred here.

In order to see Stephen's shadow on the right of Vimal, Vimal must be facing towards south and Stephen coming from a south direction which is opposite of Vimal's direction.

--------------------->V S<--------------
[stephen's shadow].
Then the answer should be south-east.
But in option south-east option is not given so only 'south' can be selected.

Both are coming in opposite direction towards each other. If he faces south, how can the shadow of Stephen falls to the right of Vimal?
