If M has only female child that is only H. So what's wrong in this option. If he doesn't have any male child. So option A makes sense. And I think not option D.

Question is only talking about the children not about the gender, don't go deeply with a question feel the essence and go simply for option A.

Option A is the correct answer.
Why because in question they particularly mention that x has only daughter.
That means there are no other children for x.

Option A is the correct answer because,
The question is how many children's M have? IF that daughter is from M to his wife i.e. X. Then & then Only A is the correct answer.
