Wan (adjective) means lacking color.

Similarly: insipid means lacking flavour.

Complexion can be pallid. Pallid complexion is a symptom of some diseases.

Pallid is also lacking color, but not lacking complexion. Complexion can not be pale. Pale, wan, pallid all are synonyms. i.e., a pallid face but not pallid complexion.
