The answers seems a bit ambiguous. Even worthless fits quite correctly here. Anything that is not dear (noun- here meaning close) is worthless.

Why not worthless?

Dear means Precious or priceless.

So worthless can be the correct answer as well.

Have checked in the thesaurus as well.

I think worthless is used for objects. But here belongs to characters that why cheap is the correct answer.
