Hello to all the readers. The placement drive for 2015 batch started with Wipro technologies as the first company. It was 8th September we were called at 8:30 in the morning.
So the recruitment drive had 3 phases.
1. The Aptitude Test .
2. The technical Interview .
3. The HR Interview (optional i.e. decided after the tech interview whether required or not).
1. The Aptitude Test:
We were taken to the computer labs at 1:00PM for the Aptitude test. The aptitude test had 4 sections. It was conducted by AMCAT.
a. Quantitative analysis.
b. English.
c. Logical reasoning .
d. Basics of computer science.
Quantitative questions were easy but a bit lengthy, a thorough practice of RS Aggarwal would be sufficient. Important topics were,
1. Profit and Loss.
2. Ages.
3. Time and Distance.
4. Boats and Streams.
5. Exponents.
6. HCF and LCM.
Just practice RS Aggarwal, and you will be able to clear it.
English was very basic.
Synonyms, Antonyms, Error finding etc.
For logical reasoning just refer IndiaBix, it is more than sufficient.
Basics of computer science had basic questions from Data structures, C, C++ (overall very easy).
Out of 1800, 600 cleared this round. (400 were shortlisted earlier through TOPPER shop (10th and 12th >80% and B.Tech >7.8)).
Those who were shortlisted through the online test were called the next day (9th September 2014) for personal interview.
The interviewer was from south India.
I entered the room.
Interviewer- please sit!
Me- Thank you sir.
Interviewer- Tell me something about yourself?
Me- Told.
Interviewer- What is the difference b/w C and C++?
Me- Told.
Interviewer- Do u know about Joins? types of Joins?
Me- Told.
Interviewer- Software testing? Types? tell me everything about it?
Me- Told.
Interviewer- Programs on Palindrome, Fibonacci series.
Me- Written.
He then gave me a puzzle.
I tried to solve it but was unable to do it.
So, I told him that, I am unable to solve it.
He said that " I am not happy with my attitude, according to me you didn\'t tried it, and just gave it up very easily ". I apologized and told him that I will improve my attitude. But he was not satisfied.
He again gave me a puzzle and asked me to solve it, I took a lot of time to solve it but was unable to do, so he gave me a hint, and then I was able to solve that. Then he told me that I will have to improve this attitude of mine otherwise I will not be able to survive in this industry. He said that though I have good grade overall. But in this industry, we require people who have the ability to think out of the box ".
I told that, I will improve on this aspect.
Interviewer said "don\'t just say this because you want to get the job ! ".
I said that sir improvement is my sole motto, and even if I get rejected in the today\'s interview, I will take the positive points from it and will surely implement this in my next interview, and be a good software professional.
Interviewer- Are you sure about it?
Me - sir, I can say that in the next 5 years down the line if you see me working somewhere then I assure you that " you will see a new and improved software professional ".
Interviewer - Ok, have you done any project?
Me - Yes sir, in ASP.NET.
Then he asked me a question that was not the part of my project.
I said that sir I don\'t know this as it was not the part of my project.
Then he asked me "ok then tell me about your project"?
I explained him the project.
Ok, You explained the project very well but you should know other aspects of language that are not in your project, I told him that "I will improve on this ".
Then he had a look at the form that was filled my me before the interview.
It had an question that tell us your job preferences. My first option was HYDERABAD and he asked me why HYDERABAD?
I said that sir "I am ready to relocate any where the organisation wants me to Work, but if I have a choice then I want to work in Hyderabad because (gave the reason)".
Then at last he asked me, if I had any questions for him?
I said - "No sir, but I only want to apologize if I disappointed you in any way! ".
He said - No. There is no question of disappointment !
I just want that if you work in Wipro or any other organisation, you should work in the best possible way, and contribute well in this great industry".
Then I said " Thank you sir, it was a pleasure meeting you ".
And left the room.
We were waiting for the HR interview but we got to know that only a few students were getting calls for the HR round (only those students were called for whom technical interviewers were not sure for selection).
I was not called for the HR round, and according to me my interview was not that good!
So, I thought that I will not be selected!
Results came after 3 days!
I was in the list of 429 selected students (125/400 from topper shop and 304/600).
It was the best moment!
First achievement!
MORAL - Just be yourself, don\'t lie, they may try to demoralize you but they are just checking your attitude. Have a smile of self confidence on your face. Be positive. Wipro is not looking for geek coders or toppers. They want hard working and people with good attitude.
I hope my experience will help you!
BEST OF LUCK.
