Hey folks, this is Atindra from Future Institute of Engineering & Management.

Wipro came to our college as the second company for the campus recruitment drive. It was a two day selection procedure.

Day 1: (30th Sept 2013)

After a long pre-placement talk(which i advice you listen to attentively) we started off with the

1.Group Discussion (2.30 pm in the afternoon)

For the GD we were basically divided into a group of 15. We were given a topic and arnd 45 seconds to think about what to say. I jotted down the major points and spoke when I was asked to.

Try not to fumble and stammer. Just speak clearly. They mainly judge us on our pronunciation, understanding of the subject and the content of our speech.

Exactly 7 students were shortlisted I being one of them.

2. Online Aptitude Test (7.30 pm in the evening)

For CSE and IT students there is an extra set of technical questions mainly comprising questions from programming, outputs, algorithms, time complexity. etc.

I belonging to Electronics and Instrumentation did not have this section.

There were questions in 3 sections:

1. Quantitative - mainly surds, logarithms work, profit and loss, speed and time problems. (Sums were a bit hard ,keeping in mind the time constraint)

2. Analytical - mainly logical reasonings, coding, data sufficiency, etc.

3. Verbal- This section is very easy mainly consisting of error spotting grammar correction, etc. But there are going to be two huge comprehensions which test our speed and time management skills.

Advice- Both the books of RS Aggarwal must be solved thoroughly that to with keeping in mind the time limit.

After this the result of the aptitude test were declared at 10.30pm at night.

The following morning...The selected candidates were asked to fill up a form and write an essay on a given topic.

The form is basically a Wipro\'s version of our resume. But the essay needs to be written well. (That\'s where questions are asked from in the HR round, as per a few of my friends).

3. Now for the Technical Interview(6 pm in the evening).

For this I had mainly prepared C and Java programming, networking, Data Structures and algorithms of the basic programs.

My interviewer was a very charming middle aged lady. She really made me comfortable as she spoke very informally and smiled constantly.

Me: Good evening ma\'am.
Int: Good evening, please take ur seat.
Just give me a moment, i am a bit exhausted.

She was scribbling something on the form of the previous candidate.

Int: So, Atindra , how many friends do you have?
Me: I said I have many friends...both in college and in school...named a few of them.

Int: What do you like to do in your free time...?
Me: I am into photography and debates. And I also teach.

Int: (Widening her eyes) Teach? u teach what?

I answered the question truthfully about all the private tuition I give and the subjects being Java, Maths and Physics.

Int: Java Programming(Smiling). Okay...which one are you better at Java or C?

Me:(confidently) I am equally good at Java and C.

Int:(Seemed impressed).

She asked me about the library classes in C and how do we call them in a program.
She asked the same from Java in terms of packages and the \'import\' keyword.

She asked the differences between java and C. (mainly the differences between OOP and POP languages)

Int: Can you explain inheritance and interface to me completely?
Me: I explained interface first ,where she interrupted several times whenever I went wrong(this lowered my confidence like anything). Then I explained inheritance.

Int: Is multiple inheritance possible in Java?

Me:Yes.

Int: Really? actually its not possible. (then she explained why it isn\'t)

So far my performance technically was average but my confidence seemed to have impressed her already. Then she asked me the last set of questions.

This was the turning point.

Int: Is Java a platform independent language? and Why?

Me: Yes. I explained about the bytecode and JVM.

Int: Great. My last question to you is what is the extension of this byte code?

Honestly, I had no idea. No idea at all. But I tried answering.

Me: Well ma\'am, when we write a Java program, its usually saved in two parts. One with .java extension and the other with .class extension.

She was slowly starting to smile(I felt i was going the right way).

Me: The .java file contains the code. That means the .class file is the byte code.

Int: (She smiled for a long time) Atindra honestly speaking, if you would have answered that question incorrectly...I would have rejected you right here right now.....I am not saying I am selecting you...but that question is the most basic question from java.

I felt relieved that I was able to answer it correctly.

She went on to say that she is not recommending an HR round for me as my communication skills were already good enough. So she just told me to go back the auditorium and wait the results.

At 10.30 pm that night the results from Wipro were declared. I got in :).

A bit later also the results of Cognizant was declared whose interview I had appeared for on 25th and 26th Sept. I got selected there too. :).

Hope this interview experience helped.

Be confident, stand your ground and think on your feet.

Give it the best shot...:)

All the best :)
