Last year's Torrent paper consisted of objective as well as subjective questions about power system, protection and aptitude as well (70:30 ratio).
So kindly be prepared .
The torrent placement drive was arranged for ELECTRICAL final-year students. The process started with a brief introduction about torrent power and their plants (SUGEN & DGEN) along with the role that we have to play as a GET (graduate engineer trainee).
After which the written test took place which consisted.
I) Electrical domain (75 questions).
II) Quantitative aptitude (25 questions).
The total time allotted was (45+15) respectively.
The questions consisted of theory objective type questions mainly as the time allotted was quite less.
Some of the questions are:
1. The number of slip rings in squirrel cage induction motor?
A. 2.
B. 3.
C. 4.
D. Nil.
Ans) D.
2) Which has the highest efficiency?
A. Atomic reactor.
B. Hydropower plant.
C. Thermal power plant.
D. Gas power plant.
Ans: B.
3. Voltage up to which pin type insulators are used?
A. 11 kv.
B. 33kv.
C. 132 kv.
D. 220 kv.
Ans: B.
4. The position of the direction relay in parallel feeder.
A) non-directional at the generator end and directional at the substation end.
B) directional at both ends.
C) non-directional at both ends.
D) directional at the generator and non-directional at the substation end.
Ans) A.
5. Which is the smallest transformer.
A) 1 kva 50 hz.
B) 1kva 200hz.
C) 1 kva 400hz.
D) 1 kva 600 hz.
Ans) A.
The rest questions were based on the Function of a breather, conservation tank, colour of the oil, lightning surges, turbo alternator, eddy and hysteresis losses, lightning arrestor, series RLC circuit etc.
Questions are quite easy provided one practices such questions thoroughly. I would suggest we. K. Mehta or c. L. Wadhwa for power system and b. L. Theraja or j. B. Gupta for machines and kindly practice the objective questions given at the back of the book.

B) find the missing number.
C) family relations.
D) series.
E) age.
F) simplification.
G) calendar.
H) profit and loss.
I) number patterns.
