Tech Mahindra Interview Experience - Durgapur, October 30, 2015
I am Subham Sarkar, from Dr. B.C. Roy Engineering College, Durgapur. I am a student of Civil Engineering. Tech Mahindra visited our campus for the selection process on 30 th october 2015.
The process started around 12 noon. The company HR first gave a presentation regarding the company, its organisational structure, its clients and services. Next, he gave information regarding the selection process. The selection procedure is divided into 4 steps:
1. Online Aptitude Test.
2. English Essay writing.
3. Technical Interview.
4. HR Interview.
1. APTITUDE TEST:
The online aptitude test has 130 questions which need to be answered in 80 minutes. There is no negative marking. There are 70 questions from verbal and English and 60 questions from quantitative aptitude and reasoning.
The questions from English were very easy. You need to know the basic rules of grammar such as preposition, articles along with synonyms and antonyms etc. There were 10 questions based on paragraph. It was easy too.
In the quantitative section there were 15 numericals based on partnerships, profit and loss, time and distance etc. There were 5 questions from picture series and other questions from blood relations, analogy, nv reasoning etc.
This section is not hard but you need to have a decent knowledge of the formulae and some practice. There is sectional cutoff, so you cannot leave any section. And focus on "SPEED".Out of 180 students appearing, 58 cleared this round
2. ENGLISH ESSAY WRITING:
If you qualify the apti round, the computer will immediately display the message saying congrats and that you have qualified. Next, you need to enter several details of yours, such as address, education, etc. Next, the essay writing test will begin. We were asked to write an essay on the topic provided by the computer, in around 1200 characters( not words) in 10 minutes time.
Some of the topics were like "Mother or father- who is a better partent", "Should facebook be banned", " What animal would you like to be, if given a chance", etc. Here you need to focus on speed along with Grammar. Out of 58 students from the previous round, 38 cleared this round.
If you can qualify the above two rounds, and you have a basic knowledge of your technical subjects and communication skill, in my opinion, you have 90 % chance of getting through. In technical round, the questions asked to me were:
Tell me about yourself?
Tell me something about your projects?
What is your role in the project?
Being a Civil Engineer, Why Tech mahindra?
What do you do in your free time?
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Do you have any knowledge of programming?
What is encapsulation in c++?
In 2 throws of a dice of a dice what is the probability of getting 9 as sum?
In how many ways can you arrange the letters of the word "LEADER"?
Puzzle: "How can you cut a cake with circular c/s in 8 pieces with 3 slices of a knife?
I answered all of them. He said thanks. 10 mins later, I was called for HR Round.
4. HR Interview:
It was mostly chit chat. It was around 11 at night and three students were being simultaneously interviewed. He asked how was the technical interview? do you have any problem relocating? etc etc.
Finally 30 students were selected. I was one of them. This was my first job offer.
First of all, I can personally say you that if you practice apti, english and reasoning questions from IndiaBIX, you will definitely clear the first round. I didn't refer to any book. IndiaBIX is more than sufficient. Next, have confidence, review your subjects. Have faith in yourself and God. And most importantly, work very hard. All the best.
And last but not the least thank you IndiaBIX. :).
