Tech Mahindra Interview Experience - Navi Mumbai, September 15, 2015
I attended the TechM placement drive held in our college and I would like to share my experience of the same.
DAY1: The students who were eligible in our college were called in for a Pre-Placement Talk by the TechM team. The talk went on for about 1.5 hr in which the guys from TechM covered all the details of their company starting from its inception till their current position in the global market, turnovers, revenue generation, fields of interest and lastly their eligibility criteria and the annual package.
TechM is one company who is very strict in terms of their criteria, they do not allow rounding-off of the percentages or the pointers whichever maybe the case.
DAY2: The complete placement procedure took place on Day 2.
There is written test. 130 questions in 80 minutes.
There are 7 modules. 2 modules on verbal, 1 module on quantitative, 1 module on passages, 1 module on Blood relations, 1 module on logical and the other on figures.
In verbal you're going to get:
- Verb agreement,
- Sentence completion,
- Prepositions and articles.
The topics were,
- Profit and Loss,
- Problems based on distance,
- Compound interest.
There are 2 passages, each passage consists of 5 questions.
Blood relations: 5 questions.
Figures: 5 questions.
A series of 4 pictures is given and you have to guess the 5 picture.
The aptitude test has a sectional-cutoff as well as an overall-cutoff which is not disclosed so make sure you clear every section mentioned above.
This is the end of the online written test and If you clear the test you will be given to type an essay of about 10 lines on any easy school level topic for a time of 10 minutes.
After an hour I attended my Technical Interview.
Since I belong to Electronics background I was not grilled on programming concepts and was asked to explain my academic projects.
Immediately within 30 minutes I was called in for my HR Interview.
I mentioned watching movies and TV/Web series as one of my hobbies so the HR guy directly asked me about the latest movie that I had seen and also the story of that movie.
Next he asked me about the Gujarat reservation issue and what were my views on the same.
Next he asked me about working in shifts, re-location and the answer should always be that you are fine by that.
The HR guy at the end gave me a chance to ask any questions if I had any, make sure you do ask questions. That shows your interest for the job that they are offering and do not discuss salaries with them, you are still a fresher.
Conclude yourself with a firm handshake and a THANK YOU SIR/MADAM.
1. Dress to impress.
2. Maintain a normal smile on your face.
3. Don't be too stiff or too chilled out in your posture. Sit straight and be calm.
- Students appeared for the drive : 155.
- Students who cleared the online test : 31.
- Students Placed : 22.
Fortunately I was the 22nd guy in that list. Hope this helps to all preparing for TechM.
Best Of Luck.
