Tech Mahindra Interview Experience - KMIT Campus, Hyderabad, 28th Aug, 2014
TechM has mainly 3 rounds:
1) Written test (online),
2) Technical round,
3) HR round.
Written test includes 3 sections (verbal, logical reasoning, quant).
It consists of 170 question that are needed to be answered in 80 min. And the happy thing here is no negative marking.
These 3 sections are subdivided into 11 modules. We can start with any module we want.
People with good command in English and basic knowledge in Maths can crack this very easily. But time management is the most important thing here.
Question in verbal are mainly from the topics like articles, prepositions, Subject Verb Argument, Synonyms etc.
In Maths you need to brush up topics like compound interest, simple interest, partnerships, percentages etc.
In logical Reasoning, Question were mainly from Figure analysis, Blood relations, Ranking, Seating arrangement etc.
Written results were announced nearly after 30 mins. Out of 300+ students, 39 cleared this round. I was happy that I was one among them.
After you clear the written test there will be an essay writing test. They will ask us to write a brief essay on the topic given by them in 10 mins. Topics will be easy like Global Warming and its effects, Does luck play a role in your life etc. Mine was the first one.
No elimination in this round. But the interviewers (TR and HR) will read your essay and assess you at the time of interview. They will also ask you question on what you have written there. So be careful and maintain a neat handwriting to leave a good impression.
We were asked to submit the essay along with some marks memos and other forms they had given us to fill.
Next came the technical round. I was a bit nervous. My interview longed for 15mins. Interviewer was very friendly. Be careful with what you mention in your resume. Because question will be be asked only from what you have mentioned in your resume.
People who are from electronics background just need to know basic C concepts.
And my advice for people from CS/IT streams. Don't always believe in your luck.
Be thorough with any one of the computer languages.
Interviewer: Hi Keerthy. How are you?
Me: I'm good sir. Thank you.
Interviewer: Tell me about yourself.
Me: Told. Blah Blah Blah.
(Remember here. Try to impress him from the very 1st que. Tell Something different than routine. Like add some principle you believe in your life, to the que "tell me about yourself" other than routine things like your name, your college name etc. But don't act over smart. ).
Interviewer: Tell me something about global warming other than what you have written in this essay.
Interviewer: Can you explain me the main stay of your project.
Interviewer: Explain those algorithms that you used in your project.
Me: Explained neatly with diagrams. He looked impressed.
Interviewer: Tell me the concept of Joins in DBMS (As I'm from CSE).
Me: Explained neatly joins concept with diagram, its types and all.
Interviewer: You mentioned your extra curricular activity as analytical writing. What all do you write? Why do you enjoy writing?
Me: Told. I'm so passionate about writing. I observe stories going around me and like to write them. Blah Blah Blah.
Interviewer : Why Tech Mahindra?
Me: Told (Remember to make an impression. Tell all the positive things about the company that you know in brief).
Interviewer: Do you have any questions for me?
Me: No sir. But, do you want myself to correct anywhere ?
(Clearly I knew this question of mine impressed him).
Interviewer: No keerthy. Continue with what you are doing now. Write things. It is a good habit.
Me: Thank you sir.
He then shook hands and asked me to leave. I thanked him again and left the room.
I was asked to wait for HR round. But there wasn't any for me. I directly got in.
Some people had both the rounds (TR and then HR).
After completing all the candidates interviews, they discussed a lot among themselves and finally announced the results.
16 among 39 were recruited. I was very happy as my name is in.
Thanks to IndiaBix which helped me a lot to prepare for the interviews. Finally my advice for all the aspirants. Be confident and don't lose your hope and that will be a thumbs up for you. All the best guys.
