Tech Mahindra Interview Experience - Guwahati, May 20-21, 2014
1. Online aptitude Test: Having 170 questions in 80 minutes. It was mainly comprised of the following sections;
Articles, Tenses, Subject verb agreement, confusable words, Logical verbal Reasonings, Logical Non Verbal Reasonings, Analogies, Antonyms, Synonyms, Arithmetic aptitude and Prepositions. The questions of arithmetic aptitudes were very less in number (around 15) and were also very easy, so you must need to focus on the reasoning and verbal parts. Out of around 140-150 students 55 cleared this round.
2. Essay round (non elimination) : You will be given with a topic written on a plane sheet and you have to write your brief thought about it. Be sure of what you are writing as they will be asking you to explain about it at the time of interview. This was the curriculum of 1st day, and they told us to see us tomorrow at 8:30 am.
3. Technical and HR: Next day morning they told us to make a group of 4 in serial wise manner for the interview. When our number came me and my 3 other friends entered the room.
Two of the interviewers were sitting there and one of them started the interview by asking us to introduce ourselves. We gave our introduction one by one. After that for the non cse peoples they asked them whether they are comfortable or a bit confident in C, I must say don't miss that chance and tell them any program you know and be ready to write it also.
As I'm a cse student so he asked me about my project and in the meanwhile he some how get in to the DBMS topic, but he then asked me "are You are confident in Database"? I said not really but I can answer from the subjects like Software engineering and OS. Then he asked me questions from them and I answered frequently. After that they now asked some puzzles to us which where based on very simple logics but tough to guess.
You doesn't need to give all the answers correctly in that but you must proceed and apply your thinking, as they are mainly going to see your approach and thinking ability.
The other member of the panel spoke very very less, I think he was the observer and evaluator. So maintain a proper body language and don't argue at all.
The interview of each group was of at least 1 hour. But don't panic and keep yourself calm and confident. At the end of the day I don't have the exact number but I think around 35-40 students were selected and I'm one of them. I wish you all luck and hope my experience will help you.
