Tech Mahindra Interview Experience - RCCIIT - Kolkata, May 9-2014
The process started with pre-placement talk. It was a long and quite boring one :D Nevertheless we got to know many useful information so be attentive during this session. I would suggest to write down the imp points like what's their motto, what does it signify and so on.
Following that session we had an apti round. Most of the questions were based on verbal ability rest were on logical reasoning and quantitative Qs. All total 170 Qs had to done within 80 mins. Most of the people including me get anxious about time. So practice hard at home by setting a time limit.
* Verbal ability consists of grammar (article, preposition etc) , comprehension (not a long one but a medium sized) , Tense correction, analogy etc.
* Quantitative part was easy don't need to toil too much on that part.
* Logical reasoning--just practice from various prevs. Questions.
There was sectional cutoff and no negative marks. You have to correct at least 120 questions to get selected surely. 55 out off 175 cleared apti.
Everyone had to face two rounds consecutively TR and HR.
Start each PI round with a greeting like-hello sir. Good afternoon (check the time before entering room). Don't put a grumpy face. Sometimes HRs cracked awful jokes or asked silly Qs. React moderately.
At technical round there were basic questions asked. Details about your final year project and other training or projects you have, were asked. Being a CSE student, I mentioned DBMS, Core Java as my favorite subjects.
Basic Qs like normalization, definition of RDMS, primary key foreign key etc. From core java nothing tough qs was there. Just remember to put a decent smile (not a grin or unnecessary giggles) on your face :D. If you don't confident or didn't prepare any subject confess it when you will be asked. As I wasn't prepared for DS when I was asked, I blatantly told -"Sir I rely on collection about data rather than the structure of the data" and He smiled.
Basic and common questions can be asked from every subjects like OS, Core java, DS, DBMS. Just read through once every imp topics.
For non CS students prepare your subjects you would be fired with less Qs from c, java or dbms.
Within 10-15 mins those who cleared Tr, were called for HR round.
Then it came to HR round. HRs were very much friendly and polite. They could understand the pressure among us and behaved very well.
I was asked the following questions:-
* Tell me something about which are not in the CV?
* Meaning of your name.
* What friends think about you?
* Are you ready reallocate?
Everyone says yes as I did. Then he asked why you are ready to place anywhere?
Any specific reason ?
* Then he gave me a situation like asked how would I response in that situation.
* At last he asked if I had any Qs.
Prepare some good and apt questions.
I asked one questions he explained me very well.
* Then he asked again if I would have any other q.
I asked one more.
* Then he again repeated same :p.
Here I told that I had a very nice and interesting session during pre-placement talk and since I had an wonderful interactive session with him I have no query left.
He smiled back and said ok. Thank you sambita and it's nice to meet you.
After a long day finally at 11:45, the names were announced and yes finally I got placed :).
Remember just for that day you will be judged only by your performance, smartness. Numbers in your CV not gonna help you.
Best of luck. :).
