SYNTEL Interview Experience - Bangalore, Sept 06, 2014

Posted By : Ketan Rating : +88, -5
Hi all,

Position:Graduate Engineer Trainee.
CTC:2. 9 LPA.

The procedure was as follow:

Round 1:Online test.

Syntel has collaborated with "" for conducting this round. To be able to participate, students had to register on this site and it was necessary for the college, to have account on the same site, so that they can verify profiles of college's student by cross checking there entered data i.e. marks and other details.

Test had 3 rounds. Verbal, Reasoning and Aptitude.

Only doing well in aptitude won't be helpful. One will have to do well in all the 3 sections. Duration was 90 minutes. And each section had 30 questions each.

Test will be conducted in your college only, upon completing the procedure explained in first paragraph.

My test date: 14th June.
Result Declared on: 17th June.
Call for next rounds: 22nd August.
Date of next rounds: 6th Sept.

Venue:For second rounds student from several colleges, which have cleared the first online round, will take part. AND THE VENUE WILL NEED NOT TO BE YOUR COLLEGE.

Further rounds were:

Round 2(First being the online test) : Group Discussion.

Note: Like you, I had also gone through the interview experiences of students on indiabix. The topics which students mention, may not be there for you, at your turn. Because the drive is an all India drive. There are several panels conducting these rounds.).

Rather than giving any topic (indiabix topics will be really come in handy), I would like to give some tips:

GD will last for probably 10 minutes, and the group size will of 10 members. It means, you will probably get, 1-2 minutes to speak depending upon your domination in the group. Don't argue. The topic asked will be general i.e.almost everybody will have knowledge about it. Just remember that your communication and listening skills will get you through this round.

*Don't make it a hardcore debate. It's GD not debate.

*And the rate of selection is totally dependent on the group members. So don't have a fix number in your mind. Just make 3-4 points in GD, take couple of minutes, listen to others and don't argue, thats it !

Result:will be declared immediately upon completion of evaluation.(will probably will take less than 5-10 minutes).

Round 3: Technical round.

They won't ask you about subjects which you don't know. They will ask you the name of subject you are comfortable with and then the interview will proceed in that direction. Preparation in much detail is not needed though. Just basics. Like-.

*OS-Starvation, Synchronisation, Critical section, Mutual exclusion principle.

*DBMS-Normal forms, It's use, Which normal form will make DB free from redundancy.

(After clearing GD, they will make you fill a form, in that apart, from filling general details, you will have to mention your skills*for CS/IS students, it will most probably will the programming languages. *EC guys, please don't mention any programming language just because SYNTEL is an IT service provider (It has offerings in Telecom also) , provided you have no knowledge about the languages. Better to write skills pertaining to your field, may be VeriLog, etc *What you mention here, will most probably decide the flow of TR).

*C-Pointers, Basic program on pointer ex. Swapping, Methods of parameter passing, Couple of basic programs.

*C++:OOPS concepts.

Result: Depending on strength, time vary. Mine was declared within few minutes.

Round 4: HR.

No technical questions asked. Just go through "". Be known to company's stats/news.

*Questions about you/your family/relocation. Will be asked. !Don't screw, after all these rounds, this is the last one that one will have to crack.

*Each and every round is an elimination round. Just don't fix any number in your mind. Rate of selection completely dependent on students/their quality, just focus on your performance. BE focussed throughout the day. Don't gossip.

Result: Will be declare by the evening *These three rounds will last for a day, and you may have to wait for particular rounds for hours, depending strength of students.

Once you are done with HR, selects will be directed to a room, where they will tell you that you are "shortlisted" and a mail will follow regarding your selection/rejection.

Thank you and all the best !
