Hello, I am doing my B.Tech Final Year & I am here to share my experience about the on campus drive conducted by Sutherland. The drive started at 10:45 with a pre-placement talk by Mr.Sushil. The talk went on for about 15 minutes. Then we were briefed about the interview process. There are separate processes for Voice and Non-Voice. Before the process started we were asked to fill a form asking about our details (like educational qualifications, etc).
NON-VOICE PROCESS:
Ruled paper was provided and we were asked to write an essay. The essay topic was "If you were given a chance to dine with a famous personality (dead or alive) who will it be & why? What 3 questions will you ask them?" We were given 20 minutes to complete the essay. The results will be announced in 15 days. If selected a mail will be sent.
VOICE PROCESS:
Total of 600 students attended the drive, we were split into batches. Each batch consisted of 25 members. The first round was JD/GD. JD means Just Describe, we were given a topic & each member was given a chance to speak about it. For few batches, a normal GD (Group Discussion) was conducted. My JD topic was "Describe your college life and one unforgettable moment in college life or what would you like to change in your college" Fluency in English (try speaking without fillers & grammatical errors) is needed to pass this round. The HR was very encouraging. The list of people selected was informed at the end of discussion for each batch. They even pointed out flaws of people not selected.
The 2nd round was telephonic interview. People shortlisted after GD/JD attended this interview. The HRs brought 2 phones with them. This interview was conducted individually. We were asked to speak to a foreign person (though I guess they are natives of India but talking in foreign accent).
The person first confirmed our details and asked general questions,
- About college,
- People in India,
- How India would develop technologically in next 5 years,
- Status of women in India,
- What changes we would like to make in Indian education system, etc.
The ones selected after telephonic interview are given the offer letters. Though the final list of candidates selected is not yet known as 40 candidates are yet to complete their telephonic interview.
Hope it helps others appearing for Sutherland interview.
