Hi all, I attended the placement drive conducted by Speridian Technologies at Munnar, Kerala. It was a pool drive. Students from around 25 colleges were attending the drive. The drive was a being conducted for 3 days. I attended on the second day. I'm a B.Tech ECE candidate.

Regarding the placement procedure:

1) Aptitude test:

The test was online. 60 questions 60 minutes. Logical questions were not there. Verbal and quantitative were the majority. All the questions were mixed like a few quantitative then a few verbal and then again quantitative, like that.

The questions were quite simple. Questions from almost all type of quantitative were there like series, AP, GP, Simple math, train, boats and stream, clock, like that. Verbal mostly questions were fil in with the correct word, finding the correct one word for a given phrase, then a few questions were der like a few lines are given and a question is following.

We have to find an answer from the given option. Kind of comprehension. All the questions can be seen at a stretch so answer the question you are of at first. And of course, der were different sets of questions. Results were published 15 minutes after the test.

2) Group discussion:

Groups of 13 were taken for GD. The topic was "Does privatisation lead to less corruption". 2 minutes were given for brainstorming and 10 minutes for discussion. After that 30 seconds were given to each person to conclude. Many GDs were running in parallel and all of them had same topic of discussion.

Max elimination happens in GD. Only 2 or 3 will be selected to next round from each group. So dnt hestitate to talk. Be loud enough, listen to others, ask questions, and give your mates a chance to talk. Be precise with your conclusion don't drag it beyond 30 sec.

The person to start off and the one with good conclusion has an upper hand and of course, you have to talk legitimately in between.

3) Technical interview.

The first question was to introduce myself. Then questions like what are your strengths? If you say for instance that you are hardworking then next question will be to say what did you earn with hardworking? Then he started off with the main project and a few questions related to it. Then the obvious question " Why is IT being an ECE student ?". A few questions were asked like.

@ What is the difference between a desktop application and a web application?
@ What is database?
@ Querries to create, insert, delete, modify etc.
@ What is happening at the background when you log into Gmail and FB?
@ What is a web server? etc.,
@ What is an OS? Can a sys run without an OS? Name a few OS. Is DOS an OS?
@ Which all programming lang do you know?

Since I said C Programming he asked to write a simple program to reverse a string. Explain every line right from the header file. What that why this etc., The Second program was to swap two variables without using a 3rd variable.

4) HR interview:

When I took the seat biscuits were kept on the table. Two guys were to interview me. One of them said, " you can have 'em if you like". I said "No thank you". Next what I saw was next guys stood up leaned toward me and took hold on my shirt and put my button on.

My first button was open. I said sorry and put my button on. He said "try impress in all possible ways". I nodded. The it started.

@ Introduce yourself?
@ Why did you choose ece?
@ Why is IT now?
@ Are you willing to work on night shifts?
@ Will you join if the posting is outside Kerala?
@ I had written my hobbies reading novels and short stories. So which was the last novel you read? another novel you have read? who was the author? etc.
@ What is the confidence level you feel you will pass this interview?

Then the usual HR question. Do you have anything to ask? Don't hesitate to ask. Ask a few questions you want to know like when will I have to join? how long will be training etc?

He asked me what will I be in the gap between the join date and the end of classes at college. I said I want to learn Java. So he asked how will you learn? I said I will join a training centre. Suddenly, he said on my face. Your concept is entirely wrong.

If you have a text and the internet you can learn anything. That is how you should learn. At last, he said you can take one biscuit. I took one. He said hope to see you soon.

The results were only passed to your college the next day. I am extremely happy to say I passed the tests and I'm placed in Speridian Technologies.

Note: never say no to a question. If you don't know say it politely. Like I knew but can't recollect now. Or I would like to learn it. Something like that.
